The Bologna Process is designed to ensure comparability in the standards and quality of higher education qualifications in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and urges higher education institutions to evaluate their educational programs by implementing the transparency tools such as ECTS to maintain a common perception of quality in the European Higher Education.

ECTS aims to make teaching and learning teaching and learning in higher education more transparent across Europe and facilitates the recognition of all studies. The system allows for the transfer of learning experiences between different institutions, greater student mobility and more flexible routes to gain degrees. It also aids curriculum design and helps higher education institutions to implement the objectives of quality assurance.

Istanbul AREL University’s ECTS Information Package has been prepared, as apart of university’s Education Information System, in compliance with the standards as laid out in the ECTS Users’ Guide, published by the European Commission. It includes all key aspects of ECTS such as students-centered learning outcomes based approach for designing of the programmes and course modules in relation to level descriptors of Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education and European Qualifications Frameworks, defining suitable learning, teaching and assessment activities and consistent estimation of student workload required to successfully complete them.

ECTS Information Package has been prepared in English and Turkish languages to provide learners, academic and administrative staff in higher education institutions as well as other interested parties with information about all degree programmes offered by the university. The package also includes information on the institution and that for students with regard to student life and extracurricular activities at the university.
